Gary A. Sheffield is both one of the best players in MLB history (see career highlights below) and a very shrewd business person. He was, among other things, directly responsible for the negotiations of many of his lucrative MLB contracts with several teams and is known for his aggressive style both at the plate and in the boardroom. After a long career on the field, Gary has taken his vast knowledge of the business of baseball and launched a sports representation agency, Sheffield Management and Entertainment Group, LLC, which is a company that will allow professional athletes to take more control of their careers and offer to athletes “best-in-class” management services.

Xavier currently serves as the COO and General Counsel of Sheffield Management & Entertainment Group, LLC. He has also served as Special Advisor of Sports Programming and Strategy for Golden Boy Promotions and is the Founder and President of The James Group, LLC, a company that specializes in general contract negotiations in the sports and entertainment industry. Prior to founding The James Group, Xavier served as the Senior Vice President (Travel, Sports & Entertainment) of MasterCard Worldwide. He practiced corporate law & securities law in New York at the global firm, Weil, Gotshal & Manges LLP, from 1993 to 1996. In 1996, he served as in-house counsel for the Sports and Original Programming department of HBO from 1998 to 2000. He later served as Vice President of Sports Programming for HBO from 2000 to 2004. Xavier holds a degree in Political Science, a law degree and an MBA from New York University.

The Merger between Jesse and Gary Sheffield has been years in the making. Jesse has been instrumental in the representation and brokering of professional athletes for the past 17 years. Jesse has taken on the role as general council for various Mexican League teams (Liga Mexicana) for the regular summer playing season as well as the winter Mexican League (Liga del Pacifico). In 2007, Jesse merged the both the Washington Nationals and Los Olmecas de Tabasco working agreement. With this in mind, it was the first of agreements set forth by a team held by Major League Baseball. Jesse has also contracted player procurement services with various leagues and teams throughout the Venezuelan, Dominican republic, and Liga del Pacifico, Mexico of the Caribbean Confederation (Caribbean World Series).
Jesse’s success has been attributed to the common educational foundation sports offers. Jesse has lived throughout the world and has a grass root understanding of the sports played in the various countries. In 2006, Jesse was contacted by the Kia Tigers of the Korean Baseball Organization to provide a spring training facility and schedule a multitude of games against various Major League affiliates throughout Florida (Boston Red Sox, Washington Nationals, and Cincinnati Reds).
